In Contemporary Rhythm: The Art of Ernest L Blumenschein

Drawing attention to the American Southwest's beauty, renowned painter Ernest L Blumenschein is one of the most notable painters of Western American life. In Contemporary Rhythm, at Denver Art Museum, presents 66 of the artist's engaging paintings.

The story goes that, following a chance visit to New Mexico, Blumenschein fell in love with the landscape and way of life of the west and began, up until his death, creating work that centred thematically on the area.

Born in Pittsburgh in 1874, Blumenschein turned his back on a career in music to illustrate various celebrated magazines before concentrating on his own art. He was the founding member of the Taos Society of Artists and before his death in 1960 won various awards for his work.
